  • Review of Quality Assurance/Quality Control reports and provide recommendations; and
  • Oversight of KMCRI resource allocation towards clinical protocols.

  • Reviews all Data Safety and Monitoring Plans for appropriateness; and
  • Provide internal review of adverse events on active protocols
  • If a PRMC member is unable to attend a meeting, he/she will delegate a qualified Kansas Masonic Cancer Research Institute member from the appropriate department as a representative.

    Membership Qualifications:
The Chairperson of the Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee appoints members to the PRMC from all relevant programs in the institution. These persons should have an interest and be knowledgeable in protocol development and the conduct of clinical trials.

    The PRMC will include:

  • The Director of the Clinical Trials Office, Chairperson
  • Director of the Kansas Masonic Cancer Research Institute (KMCRI), or designee
  • KMCRI members (physicians, basic scientists, etc.)
  • Oncology Research Nurses
  • Biostatisticians
  • Each study requiring full committee review will be reviewed by 2 physicians (or a physician and a basic scientist), an oncology research nurse and a biostatistician or epidemiologist.

Cooperative group studies have been reviewed extensively by NCI and various other national groups; therefore the PRMC will require that only one clinical or basic scientist or epidemiologist and one nurse review these studies. This will ease the PRMC's review process for these studies and will allow the committee to review these types of studies in an expedited fashion. These reviews can be done at any time prior to the scheduled PRMC meeting and the decision regarding the approval or re-review will be reported at the monthly meeting.
